Remembering Lucille Ball

She could sing, she could dance, and most of all, she could make us laugh. Known as ‘The First Lady of Television,’ Lucille Balls’ mastery of comedy paved the way for female television stars (comedians and otherwise) on television.

Her popular 1950s sitcom I Love Lucy may have gone off the air years ago, but she can still make us laugh.

Lucille Désirée Ball was born on August 6, 1922 in Jamestown, New York. Over the course of her long career, not only did she star in I Love Lucy (alongside her real life husband Desi Arnaz), but she was also a film, stage and radio actress, model, and film and television executive. Her other sitcoms included The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here’s Lucy and Life With Lucy. Ball won an Emmy Award four times. She died of heart problems on April 26, 1989.
