The monarch stopped by the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to visit with victims of the terror attack.

The Queen arrived at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital at 11:30 a.m. today (May 25) where 14 victims of the bombing on May 22 are being treated. All the young victims she spent time with were under the age of 16. Elizabeth also met some of the staff members who worked around the clock on the night of the terror attack.

The National Health Service (NHS) confirmed that 116 people have been hospitalized, 75 of whom are currently in critical care. The blast, which occurred at an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena, killed 22 people, the youngest victim only eight years old.

On May 23, the Queen praised the emergency services for their professionalism and paid touching tribute to the victims. In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty said: “The whole nation has been shocked by the death and injury in Manchester last night of so many people, adults and children, who had just been enjoying a concert. I know I speak for everyone in expressing my deepest sympathy to all who have been affected by this dreadful event and especially to the families and friends of those who have died or were injured. I want to thank all the members of the emergency services, who have responded with such professionalism and care. And I would like to express my admiration for the way the people of Manchester have responded, with humanity and compassion, to this act of barbarity. ELIZABETH R.”
