LaSalle Park Retirement Community’s 96-year-old Betty Barlett got her wish to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Much like the Make-a-Wish Foundation for young kids, LaSalle Park Retirement Community in Burlington, Ont. has been making wishes come true for its residents with their Living List initiative.

Inspired by the idea of checking items off a bucket list, senior residents are granted their ultimate wishes. And, on November 2, 2016, 96-year-old Betty Barlett was granted her wish to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Betty was flown to Ottawa (her first time on a plane in ages!) and given the grand tour of Parliament Hill. The highlight, though, was her one-on-one meeting with Justin Trudeau in which she shared a scrapbook with newspaper clippings of his father, Pierre Trudeau.

We’re glad you had a wonderful time, Betty!

Other residents have had opportunities such as meeting astronaut Chris Hadfield, doing the CN Tower Edge Walk, hanging out with comedian Colin Mochrie and zip-lining over the Elora Gorge.
