Celine Dion a Hit at Paris Couture

Sporting a newly minted fashion sense, Celine Dion has taken Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week by storm.

This week, the 48-year-old Canadian songbird has taken a break from her European concert tour and attended several fashion shows, decked out each day in a series of dramatic outfits from labels like Balenciaga and Fendi. Her chic fashion makeover seems to be the work of stylist, Law Roach, whose services she only recently enlisted.

And the fashion press at the shows have sat up and taken notice, already singing praises of Dion’s new look. Vogue.com has already written a gushing piece online with the headline, “Celine Dion’s Got a New, Covetable Look.”

In the piece, Roach, who also works with Zendaya, says of Dion, “She really knows fashion,” also noting that the singer is ‘fearless’ when it comes to her fashion sense.

But it was perhaps that very fashion fearlessness that once relegated her to style Siberia for decades. Back in 1999, on top of the world with her mega hits from the Titanic soundtrack, she wore a backwards white pantsuit, fedora and diamond encrusted sunglasses to the Oscars and was savagely criticized for – the now infamous – outfit.

Despite her fantastic voice, beautiful looks and her sold-out blockbuster concerts in Las Vegas, she was never embraced by fashion pundits – forever remembered for that single Oscar outfit. Even though she redeemed herself, with the aid of her other stylist, Montrealer Annie Horth, with a stellar wardrobe of glamourous outfits she would wear on stage in Vegas.
