British singer George Michael was jailed today for smashing his 4×4 into a shop while high on cannabis.

This is just the latest in a series of driving offences.

District Judge John Perkins chastised Michael for not finding help for his addiction to cannabis, saying, “It does not appear that you took proper steps to deal with what is clearly an addiction to cannabis. That’s a mistake which puts you and, on this occasion, the public at risk.”

His jail sentence brought tears to his long-term boyfriend Kenny Gross’s eyes. He was seen leaving the court drying his eyes.

After a similar crash in October of 2006 Michael was banned from driving for two years and sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
