“How old do I look?” Do you find yourself asking that question from time to time?

Maybe a well-meaning spouse slowly backs out of the room when this query pops up. Or your best friend suddenly finds the reception breaking up on her phone at exactly that moment.

Well, now there’s an app that will take care of this for you.

The latest viral sensation is Microsoft’s How Old Do I Look app. It’s easy to use: upload a recent photo of yourself and within seconds the app will make an attempt to determine your age.

Of course, the technology isn’t always accurate–which is to be expected. And Microsoft is aware of that. They’ve made it clear that the age and gender-recognition features are still experimental for now.

“…we definitely want to improve over time,” said Ryan Galgon, senior program manager for Microsoft technology and research, in an interview with VentureBeat.
