Ideacity Talks: Climate Change

This Wednesday at ideacity, viewers will hear about climate change from all sides.

First, Edward Burtynsky a renowned photographer who has spent more than 25 years exploring parts of the world that have been negatively affected by humankind, will address how our behaviour is altering our environment. Burtynsky’s landscape photos are displayed in more than 65 major museums around the world – the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, National Gallery of Canada and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in California to name a few.

Second, a “high priest” of climate skepticism, Lord Christopher Monckton, consulted by the finance house in London on the catastrophic levels of “global warming” wrote a 40-page report that it would not harm us and would in fact be beneficial. Will he persuade you that climate change is a “well-funded clique of scientists, officials and politicians manipulating data and results to exaggerate the imagine problem”?

And third, author of prize-winning book The Rational Optimist: How Prosperity Evolves, Matt Ridley tells us not to worry because humanity has improved over the last two centuries and will continue to improve. It is not about individual smarts but how our brains work collectively. Basically, don’t worry about climate change because we’ll all figure it out. Hmm.
