Letters from Lightstone: Sites and Sounds of Israel, Part 5

Follow ZoomerMedia’s Marilyn Lightstone as she travels to Israel this summer to bring you first-hand coverage of this culturally rich country. In this dispatch, she sends a letter to Canadian winemaker, Don Ziraldo.

Dear Don,

I think you would have been charmed by this winery in the Galilee, The Adir Winery. The fact that it’s a family business, as is yours, seems to make such a difference in the welcome you receive, and, no doubt, your little son will do as good a job in making us feel welcome in YOUR winery as this young man did.

Fifty years ago, the Rosenbergs (from Rumania) and the Ashkenazis (from Turkey) settled here and created a dedicated and progressive company. They showed us a lovely little film about their history and how this most modern and humane operation is run, but there was so much light in the room that it couldn’t be videoed. I did take some super footage of our charming (and rather cute) host, but Dropbox seems to have disappeared from the new mini iPad I brought along just for the purpose … Poo!

More to come.

Marilyn…
