Fantastical Headgear: 6 Elaborate Easter Bonnets

Back in the day, Easter bonnets were simple wreaths made up of leaves and flowers meant to commemorate the arrival of the new season. And it’s a far cry from the fantastical headgear currently worn during the Easter Parade in New York. This annual parade tradition takes, which started in the 1870s, takes place on Fifth Avenue and features ladies dressed in their finery and sporting elaborate hats to celebrate spring. The parade, which takes place every Easter Sunday, inspired Irving Berlin’s hit musical, The Easter Parade.

Here, we gather a few hats to take you from Easter right through the summer.
