With all the "new year, new you" sentiment this time of year, we've decided to take it one step further: a new podcast. Except, unlike many New Years resolutions —sure I'll wake up early and hit the gym every morning before work starting on Jan. 1st—this is one we plan to keep.
As the Arts and Entertainment Editor, one of the main components of my job is interviewing notable folk from the 45-plus set for Zoomer magazine and EverythingZoomer.com. This means Oscar winners, literary legends, successful singer/songwriters and overall supremely talented people who've kept us entertained for years.
Along with my co-host, Video and Multimedia Producer Gina Bucci, we're preparing to launch the new podcast Ages & Icons as a way of taking listeners inside those encounters—be it interviews from past years or one we conducted that week—so you can hear the interviewee's candid thoughts on their careers, personal lives, famous works/moments they've been a part of and, of course, the journey of aging directly from their own mouths. We'll also have stories from behind the scenes of the interviews, personal perspectives and more.
A&I officially launches in the new year but, owing to the spirit of the season, we've compiled a medley of holiday-flavoured clips from past interviews with Canuck screen legends Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy, the First Lady of Country Music Loretta Lynn, global superstars The Tenors, celebrated soprano Measha Brueggergosman and the creator and star of Corner Gas, comedian Brent Butt, talking Christmas memories both hilarious and poignant to offer listeners a taste of what's ahead.
Check it out with the audio player above, and we look forward to officially introducing you to Ages & Icons in 2018!
