Princess Diana’s brother on ‘perfect’ baby name

The late Princess Diana’s brother thinks the royal baby’s name is “perfect”.
Charles Spencer has spoken out in favour of the moniker that was chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their newborn daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, and took to his Twitter account to share his delight at the news, adding that his two-year-old daughter, Charlotte Diana, would also be “thrilled”.
Charles – who is the ninth Earl Spencer – wrote: “Perfect names. My 2-year old Charlotte Diana will be thrilled at cousinly name-sharing. Is at an age where thinks world revolves around her!”
Charles has Charlotte Diana with his wife Countess Spencer as well as six other children from previous marriages.
Charlotte had been the bookmakers’ favourite for the name of the young royal – who is fourth in line for the throne after her grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William, and older brother, 21-month-old Prince George – while the names Elizabeth and Diana have been passed down from her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and her late grandmother, who was killed in a car accident in 1997.
The announcement was made via the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Twitter account yesterday (04.05.15), two days after the baby girl was born on Saturday (02.05.15) at 8.34am BST.
The statement from Kensington Palace read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
“The baby will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.”
