Review: You Again

With a star-studded cast including veteran actors like Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver and boomer-busybody Betty White, I expected a little more from this rom-com that all seems a bit too predictable (even for this genre).

Marni (Kristin Bell) is a big-city girl who works for one of the biggest PR firms in the country. Being this confident and successful didn’t come easy as she was taunted and teased by high school bullies (something she has blocked out of her head until a visit home for her brother’s wedding). All of those terrible memories come flooding back after discovering that her brother’s fiancé is none other than her high school arch nemesis (Odette Yustman) who made her high-school life a living hell. High school memories are not reserved for Marni; it turns out her brother’s fiance’s Aunt Romona (Sigourney Weaver) and Marni’s mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) go way back as well. After these two developments chaos ensues.

Prepare yourself for a lot of incredibly cheesy moments and (a few) laughs. Betty White plays Marni’s grandma and is only present for a few one-liners and an over-the-top dance scene.

You Again is in theatres today!
