Stylish Zoomers at the SAG Awards

Awards season continues this weekend as actors and actresses from the world of television and movies turned out at the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

We check out the most stylish Zoomers on the red carpet.

Carol Burnett, 82

Quite possibly the only time fuzzy Ugg type slippers are acceptable on a red carpet: when you’re a legendary comedian, actress, singer and your name is Carol Burnett and you’re the Lifetime Achievement recipient at the SAG Awards. But the famous redhead nonetheless looked smashing in her emerald evening suit.

PHYLLIS LOGAN, 60

The Scottish actress who plays prim housekeeper, Mrs Hughes on Downton Abbey, shows she can certainly move up from below stairs and turn up the glamour wattage. But her choice of gown also shows you don’t have to go full-throttle with the glitter, which some can find overbearing. This outfit puts a limit to the amount of sparkle instead of going for full coverage.

CHRISTINA HENDRICKS, 40, in Christian Siriano

The actress with the bombshell body plays up her curves with a form-fitting brocade gown that channels the screen sirens of Hollywood past.

KATE WINSLET, 40 in Giorgio Armani

If you have curves, go ahead and flaunt them because nothing looks frumpier than hiding in swaddles of fabric. A message this actress takes to heart as she swans in on the red carpet in an elegant mermaid shaped moss green gown looking sleek, chic and confident.

VIOLA DAVIS, 50

There is another side to lovely lavender as this gown shows. It can also be sophisticated and glamourous when cut as a structured gown with a dramatic bodice.

QUEEN LATIFAH, 45

How to keep a plain black gown from bordering on boredom? Don’t just add sparkle. A graphic pattern also adds depth and interest to Queen Latifah’s elegant gown.

NICOLE KIDMAN, 48

For all the designer glamour of the red carpet, after the umpteenth mermaid or form fitting gown appears, fashion fatigue can set in for viewers. So kudos to Nicole Kidman for stepping away from the red carpet style script and walking — or is that floating? — in a 1970s bohemian gown.

HELEN MIRREN, 70, in Jenny Packham

She might have played a queen in the movies but Helen Mirren is unquestionably, in real life, a queen — of the red carpet that is. She puts starlets a fraction of her age to sartorial shame. Never a false style move, this dame’s red carpet looks are always gloriously glamourous.

EVA LONGORIA, 40

Clearly taking a page from J.Lo’s style book, Eva Longoria raises the level of sexiness on the red carpet with this daring gown. And why not? She clearly has the body to pull it off and wisely avoids any accessories — because a dress like this hardly needs supporting players.

SOFIA VERGARA, 43

When you’ve built an impressive and lucrative (she’s one of the highest paid actresses on television) career with a bombshell body, you have to give your fans what they expect of you. Therefore, Sofia Vergara rarely ever turns off her lovable sexpot image and on red carpets — including this one here — she plays up that image in her signature style, a form-fitting gown that shows off her assets.
