Titanic Survivor’s Kimono Sells for More Than $70,000 at Auction

Titanic survivor Lucy Duff Gordon’s kimono which she wore 100 years ago during her rescue from the wreck — has sold for more than  £38,000 ($75, 205). The Guelph, Ont., native and her husband, Sir Cosmo, were among 710 people to survive the disaster on April 15, 1912. 1,517 men, women and children died.

Gordon’s silk kimono was one of many Titanic memorabilia sold at an auction in the RR Auction. Vice-president Bobby Livingston told Women’s Wear Daily,  “An anonymous international collector who was very well-versed about the controversy bought it.”
