SPOTLIGHT: The Beverley Hotel

TORONTO This summer, The Beverley Hotel opened in what was once the Beverley Tavern, a venerable venue for punk-rock on the Queen Street West strip. The gritty charm has been replaced by chic, boutique hotel style and although diminutive – suites are a mere but fully accessible 318 square feet – what it lacks in size it makes up for in style and location. The rooms are spare yet serviceable with a contemporary white scheme, and the hotel is situated a short walk from some cultural heavy weights including the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Canadian Opera Company and Roy Thomson Hall as well as the city’s theatre district.

Plus, for sports fans, the Rogers Centre (known as SkyDome for those of a certain vintage) is just a few blocks south. Shopping and dining options are abundant nearby or stay in to eat at the full-service dining room and drink or snack at The Rooftop (patio and grill). 335 Queen St. W., 416-493-2786, thebeverleyhotel.ca
