With the rest of the world back to school or work, Muskoka’s ‘quieter’ season still offers lots to do and enjoy at Deerhurst, where you’ll find a mix of newly renovated condos, suites and rooms ready for the kind of sleep you can only get in fresh air country.  Here are the top five reasons to plan your Fall getaway now:

1. Stay Midweek and Save 20% Find your best room choices and best room rates Sunday – Thursday. ‘Nuff said?  Let’s get started here >>

2. Would You Like Free Golf Balls or a Shirt with that Round?
Who couldn’t use a little back up ammo on the course? Tuck a free box of golf balls in your bag on us when you play Deerhurst Highlands Wednesday afternoons, or Deerhurst Lakeside Thursday afternoons. Or add to your golf wardrobe with a free shirt included with twilight rounds at either course.  How cool is that? See details and book your tee times here.

3. Experience Chef Solomon’s Fresh Take on Muskoka Cuisine … While You Can

It’s a long way from North Bay to Napa Valley, but for Chef de Cuisine Solomon Mason it’s a natural trajectory in his flourishing culinary career. Fortunately for Deerhurst guests, he’s making a stop at Steamers Steakhouse for a Canadian break after holding coveted positions at The French Laundry in California and Per Se in New York, both Michelin 3-Star establishments regarded as two of the top restaurants in the U.S.

“Fresh, local, foraged” is his mantra. Virtually everything on this year’s Steamers menu is prepared from fresh, handpicked ingredients, including top quality Black Angus beef dry-aged and cut right in the kitchen. The Arctic Char is brought in live, pasta is handmade, charcuterie meats cured in-house and ever changing seasonal vegetables are grown just 5km away. Love your meal? Chef Solomon loves to invite guests into his kitchen whenever he can! He’s only here for one season though, so be sure to put a night at Steamers on your must-do list this Fall. (Fall hours are Wednesday – Sunday, until October 18.) See the menu and reserve here.

4. Add Some Colour to Your Life
From mid-September to mid-October north Muskoka puts on one of the province’s best shows of Fall colour with incredible reds and oranges dominating.  (The colours usually peak in Huntsville the last week of September and first week of October.) A scenic drive to nearby Algonquin Park or the fire-tower in Dorset (which offers incredible views) can yield oohs and ahhs around every corner.  Or take in a whole other spectrum of colours touring Huntsville’s outdoor Group of Seven gallery with over 90 replica murals throughout town. It’s also time of fall fairs, festivals and food. See what’s happening around Deerhurst Resort this Fall.

5. Make Some Waves
Whatever floats your boat is likely at Deerhurst’s extensive waterfront.  See the changing
colours in a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle board (try it, it’s fun!) or take a leisurely boat tour from Peninsula Lake to Fairy Lake through the historic canal. Curling up with a book at the beach more your speed? Your chaise lounge is waiting… Water temperatures dictate the length of season, but plan on lakefront fun through mid-late September.

6. Could You Be Watching the Next Shania?
Audiences in the late ‘80s knew they were watching terrific talent on the Deerhurst stage, but they didn’t know they were watching a future superstar. Could it happen again? Flash forward to today, where knock-your-socks-off talent continues to wow audiences Canada’s longest running musical variety production. The newest version, HIT L!ST, takes aim at favourite musical moments across the genres –  from pop, rock and country to swing, indie and east coast. As a bonus, one HIT L!ST show ticket is included with every Deerhurst  room reservation. (Some conditions apply.) Let us entertain you here.
