Goldhawk hosts show for Zoomers

Moses Znaimer, owner of radio station The New AM740, and Dale Goldhawk, have joined forces to inject some talk-show Zip into the station for Zoomers, Znaimer’s term for people over 50 who embrace life.

Gemini award nominee, journalist and broadcaster Dale Goldhawk’s 3-hour Goldhawk Fights Back is heard on The New AM740, Monday to Friday from 10am to 1pm.

Goldhawk became a Canadian household name during his years hosting CBC Radio’s Sunday Morning , As It Happens and Cross Country Check Up , the program coincidentally co-created and hosted by Moses himself in the mid-1960s.

Since 1992, the newsman has been the Ombudsman for CTV National News, and hosts Goldhawk LIVE on Rogers Television in Toronto and on CPAC in Ottawa. He is the author of Getting What You Deserve and frequently speaks on advocacy issues across Canada. In addition to his Gemini nomination, Goldhawk is the recipient of the ACTRA President’s Award, the Ryerson Union Award and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, presented by then-Governor-General of Canada Adrienne Clarkson in recognition of his efforts on behalf of the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

The addition of Dale Goldhawk is the first of many exciting changes ahead for Moses’ newest media acquisition, made official on April 30, 2008.  Moses saw The New AM740 as a natural sister to the nation’s classical music stations, The New Classical 96.3 FM & 103.1 FM, which have dominant Zoomer listenerships. Zoomer, or Boomer With Zip!, is the term Moses has popularized to denote the population traditionally and previously known as “50+”.

The New AM740 is a rare 50,000 watt clear channel frequency, originally granted to the CBC. It reaches a vast area – from Georgian Bay to the north; Ohio to the south; Michigan to the west; and New York to the east.It plays “The Best Of The Best”. No one-hit-wonders here! The New AM740 is the only place to hear all-time favourites from the ‘30s and ‘40s with Miller, Dorsey and Shaw – to ’50s standards from Sinatra, Bennett and Clooney – into the ’60s with The Beatles, Streisand and Elvis – the ‘70s with Billy Joel, Neil Diamond and Gordon Lightfoot – and today with Leonard Cohen, Diana Krall and Michael Bublé.

Dale Godhawk Gemini award nominee, journalist and broadcaster, Dale Goldhawk has earned Canada’s trust by his four decades of work exposing fraud and greed in the marketplace. To learn more,
