Bamburger, Toronto

Gourmet burger shops are popping up in hoards all over the downtown area but it’s not that easy to bite into one of these juicy, delectable wonders if you live North of St. Clair. Does the upper-middle class not like their burgers fancy? Well, the owner of Bamburger, the trendy burger shop that just opened its doors today, May 14, in the Yonge and Davisville area, says they certainly do.

Bamburger — refreshingly — prides itself on not serving organic meat because, as the owner told me, “it’s not federally inspected.” The menu, alongside a cornucopia of topping options, proffers up a lengthy roster of burgers including a soy-based vegetarian burger (developed in- house), a turkey burger, a pork burger, and of course, the burger of all burgers, a ground beef burger. The menu is certainly comfort leaning, offering poutine, sweet potato fries, clubhouse sandwiches and many more carbophobe’s nightmares.

Move over Atkins-loving housewives; Bamburger has arrived.
