Walk the walk with Team Zoomer!
“I’ve had cancer twice. Thanks to my treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital , I’m alive and well and looking forward to my inaugural walk!” says Libby Znaimer, Host and Author of The Zoomer Report on The New Classical 96.3FM, The New AM740, and Zoomer Magazine. “I’m inviting you to join me on Team Zoomer, so that we can walk together to find a cure.”
Get fit, get inspired, meet interesting people of all ages, and have a blast!
The Shoppers Drug Mart® Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™ — which benefits The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret — will be held in Toronto on September 11-12, 2010. There will be other walks across the country.
“Cancer strikes families as well as individuals. When my sister was diagnosed, the hardest thing for me was to stand by and watch,” says Moses Znaimer, President & CEO of ZoomerMedia. “This year, thankfully, I’m not standing still. I’m supporting the walk to find a cure for our sisters, mothers, daughters, wives, and friends.”
Since its inception in 2003, the walk has raised $102 million for cancer research at The Princess Margaret Hospital. The money has gone toward seed funding for the breast cancer rapid diagnosis program, state-of-the-art MRI and digital mammography equipment, clinical trials support, and innovative research. The Princess Margaret is one of the top five cancer research centres in the world and is Canada’s only hospital that’s 100 per cent dedicated to cancer research and care.
A historic journey for all
For this year’s weekend event in Toronto , walkers have a choice to walk for two days (60km) or for one day (30km). It’s easier than it sounds. You’ll be fully supported as you travel through some of Toronto’s most beautiful areas — with regular stops for food and drinks, and of course, cheering crowds all along the route. It’s a fantastic experience, but the point is to raise money.
One-day walkers must commit to raising $1,250, and two-day walkers $2,000. In the months prior to the event, we’ll help with fundraising and training.
