Dick Clark dies at 82

The legendary television producer and host of American Bandstand and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve has passed away at 82 years old after suffering a massive heart attack.

Spokesmen Paul Shefrin told the press he died at Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica, California on Wednesday morning, after checking in the day before for an outpatient procedure.

In 2004 he suffered a significant stroke that forced him to retire his role as host of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the show he created in 1972.

American Bandstand was one of the longest running variety shows ever, airing from 1957 until 1987.
