Movie feature: The Intouchables

The latest feel good dramedy from directors Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache is already a smash hit in Europe and has become France’s second highest grossing film of all time.

Based on a true story, Philippe, a well off aristocrat who recently suffered a paragliding accident, hires Driss – a convict from the projects who has been recently released from prison – as his caregiver. The unlikely pair collide as they come to terms with each other, giving birth to a friendship as crazy, comical and strong as it is unexpected. The Intouchables tells a story we can all connect to, blurring the lines of what we think friendship looks like.

Omar Sy received the 2012 César Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance as Driss, beating out Jean Dujardin’s Academy Award winning performance in The Artist.

The Intouchables makes its Canadian debut THIS FRIDAY June 1st in Toronto at Varsity and Sheppard Cinemas.

Vancouver opens NEXT FRIDAY June 8 at Fifth Avenue Cinemas.
