Sweden’s Princess Madeleine is delighted her wedding reception will take place at the Royal Palace.

The princess will marry financier Chris O’Neill at 4pm on 8 June in the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, followed by a post-ceremony gala dinner within the palace.

Madeleine said: “This is something that makes me happy and that means a lot to me, because I was born and raised there.”

Over 350 guests will attend the wedding – including Britain’s Earl and Countess of Wessex – and a 21-gun salute, fired at five second intervals from Skeppsholmen, one of the islands of Stockholm, will mark the end of the ceremony.

After the dinner, a dance will take place in The White Sea Hall at the official royal residence, with the seven-floor palace’s 600 bedrooms accomodating all of the guests.

Swedish Michelin-starred chef Mathias Dahlgren is working on the menu for the occasion, and the princess is tipped to don a wedding dress created by Valentino.

It is not yet known if she will follow royal tradition and wear a tiara and veil handed down from several generations.

Madeleine – who is based in New York – and Chris got engaged last October.
