Behind the Cover: Prince Charles, May 2014

It’s with much pleasure that we present you with a royal read this month. Executive editor Vivian Vassos shares the highlights of our May issue featuring The Prince of Wales.

Rule Britannia! Royal watchers and gardening lovers alike would have a hard time saying no to HRH The Prince of Wales, when it comes to a cover story, a photographic tour of his gardens at his beloved rural retreat and a sneak peak at his latest book on that very subject, Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated, co-written by Bunny Guinness. On our cover, we find Prince Charles on the grounds of the estate. Readers can follow along his garden’s path shown on our pages, use his gardening ideas as inspiration and apply them to their own outdoor spaces.

The theme of the May 2014 issue is house and garden. What better way to celebrate the end of April showers and welcome in May flowers than with an excerpt from the Prince Charles book, which includes his musings on what it’s like in his garden during this month. Getting back to nature is good for our health and, for the Prince, a necessity to well-being, for himself, for his family and for the planet itself. Long an eco-warrior in his own right, Prince Charles has been a leading force in preserving the environment through his organic and conservationist efforts.
