With visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads, three stars with musical holiday offerings recall some of their own memorable Christmas moments

Measha Brueggergosman, Christmas “[My mom] is the original recycler. She packages [gifts] in boxes from stores that have long since closed. So we’re like, ‘Ohh, did they just open at Christmas, Mom?’ These boxes only get seen at Christmas. And I don’t know where she puts them the rest of the year.”

Liona Boyd, A Winter Fantasy “We kids [were playing]…and [got] stuck in the mud. I had to climb out of my brand new yellow rubber boots and run to get my dad to rescue my sister. My dad dug her out and rescued my boots, too!… When I was 13, I awoke to find my parent’s classical guitar that they had brought back from Spain wrapped up for me under the tree.”

Ross Petty, Cinderella: The Gags to Riches Family Musical “It’s been so long that I’ve been doing these [holiday] shows that my Christmases of the past 25 years almost really become a blur. We happily have Christmas Day off. Because Karen [Kain, his wife] is always involved with The Nutcracker, we’re just both so exhausted. We do somehow manage to get together with our families … and then go home and crash again.”
