In honour of the Duchess of Cambridge’s 35th birthday (Jan. 9), we look back at her bold and beautiful fashion statements from the Royal Visit.

True to her reputation as a fashionista, the Duchess of Cambridge dressed to impress on her second official royal visit to Canada in September 2016 (the first was as a newlywed in 2011). Right from the moment she stepped off the plane, she’s been the epitome of glamour and class, as royal watchers track her every move.

Here, we look back at her outfits from the second royal visit (September 24-October 1, 2016).

The Duchess arrived in style: she descended from the plane in a royal blue pencil skirt from Jenny Packham with nude L.K. Bennett heels and a hat from Lock & Co—all while balancing little Princess Charlotte, 16 months, on her hip.

The Duchess continued to wow royal watchers in an embroidered red and white Alexander McQueen ensemble with a high-neck collar and a knee-length skirt. She paired the dress with bright red suede heels and a matching clutch bag, completely her Canadian-esque look.

The royals visited the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, and Kate arrived in a bold green Dolce & Gabbana dress—a customized, pocketless version of the designers’ original. Kate paired the outfit with a nude clutch and the nude L.K. Bennett heels she wore on the day she arrived.

Kate arrived at Government House in Victoria, BC for a historic reconciliation ceremony with Canadian First Nations groups in a stunning £1,000 red Thornton Bregazzi dress with the royal family’s diamond maple leaf brooch. The brooch was originally given to the late Queen Mother by her husband, King George VI, to mark their state visit to Canada in 1939.

Later, the Duchess made a splash in a stunning red knee-length Carolina Herrera overcoat while visiting Carcross Commons in Whitehorse, Yukon. The outfit was completed with a red suede clutch and purple block heels. And that Mountie on the left just makes the ensemble feel even more authentically Canadian, doesn’t it?

Kate also opted for a grey coat designed by renowned Canadian fashion designer Sentaler (a personal favourite of Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau’s). We love this casual, chic sweater jacket with its ribbed sleeves and belted waist.

The royal family attended a children’s party for military families (September 29) on the beautiful green grounds of Government House in Victoria, BC. Prince George, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 16 months, were treated to balloon animals, puppet shows and pony rides, along with about 24 other lucky kids. The families who were invited to attend have loved ones currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. That day, the Duchess wore a cream-coloured See by Chloe dress paired with wedge heels.

The sporty Duchess embarked on a canoeing excursion with Prince William to the stunning Haida Gwaii to meet with members of the Haida nation. She wore a coat by Smythe Jackets, jeans from Zara and a blouse from Somerset by Temperley London.

On the final day of the royal tour, the Duchess stepped out in a white blazer and black skinny jeans, both from Zara. She finished off the look with J. Crew block heels and grey checked pumps with tassels.

On October 1, the royal visit came to a close and the public got one last glimpse of the foursome before they boarded the plane home in Victoria, BC.
