No need to get your eyes checked—Vanity Fair DEFINITELY gave Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon a couple of extra limbs on the cover of their latest issue.
Considering everything these two women have been juggling in their careers as of late—TV’s Big Little Lies, Lifetime Achievement Awards and, you know, potential presidential bids—perhaps the magazine just wanted to…lend them a hand? (Sorry, I had to do it.)
It all started earlier this week when Vanity Fair released a series of photos from their annual Hollywood Issue—one of which featured a three-handed Oprah and a three-legged Witherspoon.
Oprah, 63, and Witherspoon, 41, had posed for renowned celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz alongside fellow Hollywood heavyweights such as Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Harrison Ford and The Crown’s Claire Foy.
But everyone—including the stars themselves—were in for quite the surprise when the photos made their way online. (Go ahead, count the hands!)
Naturally, it didn’t take long before the Twitter police caught a glimpse of the errors and summarily poked fun at the situation.
Even Witherspoon and Oprah got in on the joke and shared a laugh at their own expense.
Meanwhile, Vanity Fair welcomed the opportunity to make light of its own error.
Sure, it was an awkward gaffe, but it’s certainly one way to get the latest issue of your magazine to go viral.
