Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely heard a thing or two (or three or four) about the Royal Wedding between power couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Prior to the big day, countless articles were pumped out daily, musing over which designer Meghan will choose for her wedding dress or how she’ll style her hair or whether or not she’ll wear a tiara for the big day.
But me? I couldn’t wait to see what the always-stylish Queen Elizabeth had in store for her grandson’s May 19 nuptials. In the end, she didn’t disappoint, opting for a lovely light green number that coincided with the floral theme.
At 92, Her Majesty has her personal style down to a T — complete with her ever-present purse. Her iconic look — the knee-length skirts (often paired with a matching coat), fashionable brooches and vibrant colours — are thanks, in part, to her personal stylist Angela Kelly.
But lets give credit where it’s due: the Queen certainly knows what looks good on her. (And who can forget when she shocked fashion royalty in February by sitting next to Dame Anna Wintour at London Fashion Week?). The woman likes (and knows) her fashion!
Lets take a trip down memory lane and recall some of the monarch’s most queenly royal wedding outfits.

In 1931, at the age of five, the then-princess was appointed as bridesmaid for the wedding of Lady May Cambridge (the niece of George V, the Queen’s paternal grandfather) and Captain Henry Abel Smith.

Princess Elizabeth stood in as bridesmaid once again, this time for the 1946 nuptials of the Hon. Mrs. Jean Frances Gibbs and Captain Hon. Andrew Charles Victor Elphinstone.

Queen Elizabeth stood as bridesmaid to her lady-in-waiting, Kathryn Stanley, during her wedding to Sir John Dugdale in 1956.

Her Majesty looked radiant at her sister Princess Margaret’s wedding to photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones in 1960.

Looking striking in royal blue, the monarch paired her bold dress and jacket with elegant gloves during her daughter Princess Anne’s 1973 wedding to Mark Phillips.

In 1981, with the eyes of the world on newlyweds Prince Charles and Diana Spencer, Her Majesty looked regal in her pale blue ensemble — and topped off her look with a delicate pearl necklace.

The Queen opted for blue once again (I’m sensing a trend here…) for the 1986 wedding of her son Prince Andrew to Sarah Ferguson.

Her Majesty looked lovely in lavender and pearls at the 1999 nuptials of youngest son, Prince Edward, to Sophie Rhys-Jones.

The Queen wore a cream and pale yellow ensemble for son Charles’ second wedding, this time to Camilla Parker-Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall.

Now here’s a royal wedding with a Canuck connection! In 2008, the Queen looked on as her first grandchild, Peter Phillips, wed Canadian management consultant Autumn Kelly.

Her Majesty was a ray of sunshine in a vibrant yellow ensemble at the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
And as a little bonus, I’m going to toss in this personal favourite, which Her Majesty wore a pre-wedding dinner for William and Kate’s wedding…

I love everything about this one — from the colour that brings out her famous blue eyes to the regal gold embellishments to the perfectly matched gold purse.
