It’s been a rough stretch for Céline Dion — from last December’s announcement that the 55-year-old was forced to postpone her world tour due to a diagnosis of the autoimmune disorder known as stiff-person syndrome to a January snub by Rolling Stone in which the magazine created an uproar when they left her off their list of the 200 greatest singers of all time.

But now Dion fans have something to cheer about as, this week, the singer released her first new music since announcing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis.

The tune is the lead single and title track from the soundtrack to the upcoming romantic comedy Love Again, which  stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas as a woman in mourning who continues to text heartfelt messages to her fiancé’s phone after he dies. The number, however, now belongs to a journalist, who sets out to find her and — you’ll never believe it — falls in love with her when he does. Dion, in her first acting role, co-stars in the film as herself — the subject of an interview with the journalist, played by Sam Heughan, who then helps the cynical young man in his quest to make this love match happen. You can listen to the song in the video below.

Given the film’s plot, the “Love Again” song features heartfelt lyrics about love and loss, including lines like, “You might think your world is ending, but it won’t / You might think you need to give up, but you don’t / ‘Cuz you don’t have to move a mountain, just keep moving … The sun will rise again / The storms subside again / This is not the end.”

It’s tinged with poignancy given Dion’s own loss of beloved husband, René Angélil, in 2016, while the line, “Cuz you don’t have to move a mountain, just keep moving,” specifically echoes Dion’s 1992 hit tune “Love Can Move Mountains.”

“Love Again” is one of five new Dion tunes on the film’s soundtrack, which drops May 12. The Hollywood Reporter noted that the soundtrack is composed of 14 total songs — the five new tunes, three scores from the movie and six of Dion’s previously released songs.

The latter includes hits like “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” “A New Day Has Come,” “That’s the Way It Is” and “Courage” — the title track from her 2019 album, which was her first new release following Angélil’s death.

Love Again hits theatres on May 5.
