So Long Roy

Roy Hartsfield, the Toronto Blue Jays first manager, has died at 85. Long-time Jays’ fans will remember the colourful southerner for his efforts to coax wins out of the sorry lineup of players that made up the roster in the franchise’s early days. Under Hartsfield, the team lost over 100 games each of his three years at the helm. Despite this, he would somehow lighten the mood in the clubhouse, with his endless optimism and sense of humour.
