Mandela in Hospital

By Brooke Benjamin

Many South Africans are in a state of unrest as anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela, 92, was unexpectedly hospitalized on Thursday. President Jacob Zuma as well as members of the ANC have released a statement urging the nation to remain calm and the media to respect his privacy. The Nelson Mandela Foundation declared the reason for his hospitalization to be routine tests, however supporters of Mandela remain concerned. Several close family members and close friends have been seen visiting while security barring media entry has been tight. Children attending a school next to the hospital have decorated a fence with cheerful pictures and messages of support for Mandela. Safe to say, their sentiments are shared by all.
