Walt Disney: Frozen in Time?

Today marks the anniversary of the death of Walt Disney- film producer, animator, screenwriter and entertainer par excellence. The cause of Disney’s death was lung cancer, which he succumbed to on Dec. 15, 1966. Rumours persist to this day about what happened to his body after he died. Officially, he was cremated two days after his death and his ashes were interred  at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. However, an ongoing urban myth suggests that he was actually cryogenically frozen and placed in a crypt beneath the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. The veracity of this claim is sketchy at best, most notably because this death certificate clearly shows that he was cremated and buried. There’s no doubt that Disney, while living, did have a fascination with preserving his body after death and was unsure how to deal with his earthly remains, topics that comprised the theme of a recent chapter in Moses Znaimer’s Zoomer Philosophy.
