Betty White to Celebrate 90th Birthday with Pooch

“Golden Girl” Betty White is hosting a very intimate 90th birthday party, featuring perhaps the most exclusive guest list in Hollywood. In fact, the only name on the list belongs to a VIP with four legs who’d sooner drink from the toilet than sip champagne.

“I’m going to sit back home with my golden retriever Pontiac,” White told reporters at a press conference. “Usually I’ll try to play catch-up with all the things I never will catch up on. I may just do crossword puzzles and indulge myself and have a wonderful time with my dog.”

Still, despite her quiet plans to ring in her 90th year on January 17, White recently enjoyed a star-studded gala to celebrate her life that was taped for NBC called Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl.

Celebrity friends like Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Burnett, Ed Asner and Jennifer Love Hewitt turned out to wish White the best as she reaches the big 9-0. White, for her part, also noted that while she’s happy with how her career has turned out, she sees no reason to slow down.

“Everybody says, ‘Why don’t you retire? Why don’t you quit?’” White said. “Why should I quit when I’m having such a good time? So my New Year’s resolution is to appreciate everything that’s happening to me, and hopefully, hopefully continue to do it.”
