Happy Birthday, Betty White!

One of Hollywood’s favourite Zoomers, Betty White is celebrating her 90th birthday today. Last night, NBC helped her ring in her milestone birthday by airing a TV special; A Tribute To America’s Golden Girl. The special featured several Hollywood heavyweights including Hugh Jackman, Tina Fey, Ellen DeGeneres, William Shatner and even included a taped message from U.S. President Obama where he amusingly asks Ms. White to provide a copy of her birth certificate to prove she really is 90.
The 90-minute special also featured a slew of past and current costars to White. Actress Mary Tyler Moore who underwent brain surgery last May to remove a benign tumour moved the audience to a standing ovation with her stage appearance. Edward Asner who also starred alongside White in the Mary Tyler Moore Show was on hand for the tribute. Carol Burnett made an appearance, introducing clips of White on The Carol Burnett Show, The Tonight Show and, of course, the much-loved The Golden Girls. William Shatner introduced a slew of clips from all of White’s commercial endeavors. White’s current costars from the hit show Hot In Cleveland were also on hand to celebrate introducing clips of White’s spin as host on SNL.

A visibly moved Betty White wrapped up the special with a speech expressing her gratitude to the business and all those she’s encountered along the way.  White stated, “I’ve been the luckiest old broad on two feet to have all the jobs that I’ve had.” The special ended with all those present singing the Golden Girls theme song Thank You for Being a Friend followed by a brief preview of White’s new prank show Off Their Rockers. We wonder what her booming career will be like at 100!
