Starbucks Offers Customers New Buzz With Alcohol Menu

Anything to stay on top! Lately, the coffee market has been swarmed by non-coffee specific spots like McDonald’s offering up their best cup of Joe. Even Tim Hortons is trying to sharpen its game by increasing the size of its cups so customers get more bang for their buck. Now, it’s Starbucks turn to fight for our hard-earned dollar.

The coffee giant is going to try and attract the happy hour crowd by offering a different type of buzz with wine and beer. The alcohol menu will only be tested in the U.S. at shops in Southern California as well as Atlanta and Chicago. Customers will also have the option of ordering “premium food” like hot flatbreads, savoury snacks and small plates.

The chain’s hometown of Seattle was the first to test the alcohol menu in 2010. Now, it offers beers for $5 and wines by the glass for $7 and $9 in five locations in Seattle and one in Portland, Ore.
