NY Giants’ Tom Coughlin: Oldest Coach to Win the Super Bowl

With the confetti falling at Lucas Oil Stadium and New York football fans celebrating their team’s Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots, Tom Coughlin, head coach of the New York Giants, was deflecting praise to his players “This is such a wonderful thing, these guys carving their own history.” At 65, Coughlin becomes the oldest man ever to coach a team to a Super Bowl Victory. And while the dour and demanding coach seldom gets any love from the media, all he does is win championships by motivating players with now legendary pre-game speeches. “He got me ready to play,” said Giants defensive lineman Justin Tuck. “I know he looks dull at times, but he is a fiery guy.” Left tackle David Diehl echoed those statements: “We were all emotional sitting there listening him. This is what legends are made of.”
