Dick Clark Dies at 82

America’s oldest teenager has died. Legendary television host and producer Dick Clark passed away earlier today from a massive heart attack, according to his agent. He was 82.

During his almost seven decades in show business, Clark became a television institution thanks to his duties as host of such venerable shows as American Bandstand, Pyramid, and his annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. A stroke in 2004 forced him to cease most of his television appearances, though he continued to co-host the New Year’s Eve special with Ryan Seacrest right up to last year’s event.

Dick Clark was born November 30, 1929 in Mount Vernon, New York and got his big break when he filled in for an absent weather man while working in the office of a small town radio station.

Clark is survived by his wife, Kari Wigton, and children Richard, Duane  and Cindy.
