Aging is Beauty, Or Is It?

Photography: Bryan Adams.

It is our  ideology that beauty does not fade as we age. In our November 2010 issue we interviewed fashion’s older and wiser models of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Cheryl Teigs, Esme, Beverly Johnson, Pia Gronning, Linda Morand, Jolie Jones and Shari Belafonte beautiful faces at 50-plus were all a testament to our zoomer-message. Bryan Adams shot the stunning Carmen Dell’Orefice at the age of 80. And if that wasn’t proof that aging can be glamorous. We’re not sure what to tell you.

Well, photographer and filmmaker Timothy Greenfield-Sanders made a documentary called About Face: The Supermodels, Then and Now shedding different light – maybe even turning it off – on aging models. Ruth La Ferla of the New York Times says Greenfield-Sanders,” pokes behind the fastidiously maintained facades of some of the most celebrated beauties of the last half-century.” Click through to read about the documentary which will air Monday on HBO.
