CARP helped celebrate National Seniors Day by raising its banner over communities across Canada.

In Toronto, representatives from city council and Senator Art Eggleton gathered on a beautiful autumn day to “pay tribute to the seniors who have helped build our country and continue to make valuable contributions to Canadian communities, workplaces and society.”

Susan Eng, CARP’s VP of Advocacy, called on politicians at all levels to include seniors’ needs in their legislative decisions: making cities more accessible, supporting affordable housing and strengthening health care. And Moses Znaimer, president of CARP and Founder and CEO of ZoomerMedia, spoke of how society is on the cusp of a new era, where living to be 100 is the norm. Calling CARP the “new cool” he joined with dignitaries to raise the flag over the city of Toronto.

Up to 20 cities across Canada, from St. John’s in Newfoundland and Labrador to White Rock B.C., also participated in their own local CARP flag-raising ceremonies.
