Live from the Gillers 2012 -the Gala, the Finalists and the Winner

The shortlisted authors, and their books are: Will Ferguson’s 419, Alix Ohlin’s Inside, Nancy RIchler’s The Imposter Bride, Kim Thúy’s Ru and Russell Wangersky’s Whirl Away.

Tonight’s gala will include a performance by Jason Hoggard, as well as nominee presentations by Rick Mercer, Kim Cattrall, Measha Brueggergosman and Allan Hawco.

The winner will receive $50,000 and each finalist $5,000. The Scotiabank Giller Prize is considered one of Canada’s most distinguished literary prizes, and honours the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English (which also benefits from a “Giller Bump” in book sales).The award was established in 1994 by businessman Jack Rabinovitch in honour of his late wife, Doris Giller,a literary journalist.
