Duchess Catherine should embrace maternity style

Britain’s Duchess Catherine has been urged to experiment with maternity clothes now she is in the final months of pregnancy as they will be more flattering to her growing figure.

The duchess – who, along with husband Prince William, will welcome her first child into the world in July – has been seen in a number of ‘regular’ garments, including by Topshop and Erdem, during her pregnancy, but has now been advised to try dresses specifically designed for her changing shape in order to keep her style fashionable and flattering.

Cecile Reinaud, creative director and founder of maternity brand Seraphine, said: “Looking good while pregnant is about having properly designed maternity wear.

“So far, she’s been fine buying cheaper things and non-specific maternity wear. She’s so slender that she’s been able to get away with it, but now she’s a bit bigger, it could be a turning point. Ill-fitting clothes will only make her look larger than she is.”

With almost everything the duchess wears selling out instantly, maternity designers are hopeful she can boost their industry by donning specialist garments.

Tiffany London, of Tiffany Rose, told the Daily Telegraph website: “[Catherine has an] amazing opportunity to show the world that you can be pregnant and look truly glamorous.”
