Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to a baby girl

Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby girl.
The 33-year-old royal and husband Duke of Cambridge welcomed a healthy baby girl at 8.34am this morning.
A post on Kensington Palace’s official Twitter account read: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am. The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
Duchess Catherine was taken to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in West London earlier this morning (02.05.15) in a car, accompanied by Prince William.
The little girl will be fourth in line to the throne, behind her grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William and 21-month-old brother Prince George.
Earlier today, Kensington Palace confirmed the Duchess of Cambridge had gone into labour.
In a statement, they said: “HRH The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted at 06.00hrs to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London and is in the early stages of labour.
“The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”
