Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II turned 93 on Easter Sunday and celebrated both occasions with the Royal Family in Windsor, where she spends the holiday every year while in residency at Windsor Castle.  The annual Easter church service took place at St. George’s Chapel – the beautiful sight of last year’s royal wedding of Meghan and Prince Harry, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In attendance to partake in both birthday and Easter were the Queen’s children, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and daughter Princess Beatrice, Prince Edward and wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex and daughter Lady Louise Windsor, and of course Prince William and Kate, Prince Harry (Meghan, who is due to give birth anytime now stayed home), Zara Phillips and her husband Mike Tindall, as well as Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly.

If there were any notable absences it would be the 97-year-old Prince Phillip, the Queen’s husband, and Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. Prince William and Kate’s three children, the social media meme Prince George, his sister Princess Charlotte and little brother Prince Louis did not attend either.

April 21st is Queen Elizabeth’s actual birthday, but as is royal tradition, there is a second official birthday the second Saturday in each June, where the famous Trooping the Colour Parade takes place. This second birthday was started by King George II in 1748 and continues to this day, in part due to the favourable weather in June in which is have public celebrations.

This Easter Sunday, the Queen looked resplendent in a lovely blue pastel coat and matching hat with pink flowers. No doubt the royal family enjoyed Easter brunch back at the castle once the church service was concluded.

Prince Harry and Meghan also posted a personal Happy Birthday message to the Queen  on their official Instagram account, @sussexroyal, which read: Happy Birthday Your Majesty, Ma’am, Granny. Wishing you the most wonderful day! 🎈Harry & Meghan

We are sure that the Queen is looking forward to welcoming the newest member of the royal family into the Firm, Baby Sussex.
