Don’t miss this Toronto premiere! Opera Atelier presents a gorgeous one-hour concert experience melding musical masterpieces by the great English composer Henry Purcell with baroque dance – and a new Canadian commission. The Angel Speaks will be performed in the Samuel Hall Currelly Gallery in the beautiful Royal Ontario Museum on Thursday Feb 21, 2019 at 8pm.

The Angel Speaks features Mireille Asselin (soprano), Jesse Blumberg (baritone), Artists of Atelier Ballet in baroque costume, and members of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra performing works by the great English composer Henry Purcell, including Music for a While and The Blessed Virgin`s Expostulation.

The Angel Speaks also features composer Edwin Huizinga’s Annunciation, a new commission first performed at the Royal Chapel in Versailles in December 2018.

Another highlight of the concert is Huizinga’s
Inception, which received high praise from The Globe and Mail in February 2018: “It seemed a beautiful, promising evolution of Opera Atelier’s aesthetic, and the impressed hush among the audience spoke loudly.”

Following the performance, join Opera Atelier at an informal reception to meet the artists. Light refreshments/cash bar available. (9pm to 10pm)
