The name ‘KurSpa’ comes from the German word ‘kur’ which means healing and the Latin word ‘spa’  which means water, together meaning ‘healing by water’, which epitomizes the Resort’s European Spa Philosophy. This process is literally built into KurSpa, Sparkling Hill Resort’s luxury 40,000 square foot health spa, with its included spa amenities.

A traditional European approach to preventative health care, hydrotherapy is the process of using different temperatures of water to heal your body that dates back thousands of years.

Start with heat
Explore the seven uniquely themed steam rooms and saunas or soak in the hot pool to raise the temperature of your body. As your temperature rises, the blood vessels on the surface of your skin begin to dilate, reducing blood pressure and increasing blood flow to your skin and muscles.

Next, comes cold
Lay your body against the ice walls of the igloo sauna, or stand under the thunder rain shower – one of four experience shower options – to close your skin’s pores, keeping the heat in from the first part of the cycle. This will cause a shift in your blood pressure, flush toxins, and release muscle tension.

Rest and rehydrate
Slip into a meditative state in the moderate-temperature Aqua Meditation sauna or sip herbal tea while enjoying the natural views from the tea room. After spending time in hot and cold environments, rest your body for your cardiovascular system to regulate itself, stabilizing your blood flow and heart rate.

Repeat for extended benefits
The ancient practice of repeating the heat, cold, and rest with hydration cycle of the European Spa Philosophy is proven both to energize and restore the body and mind. With repetition, the cycle is known to provide the following benefits:

Boosting the immune system
Improving blood flow and circulation around the body activates the lymphatic system (a system that helps rid unwanted material from the body) to strengthen the immune system, helping to fight colds and illnesses.

Encouraging detoxification
Heat, such as in a steam room or sauna,  induces considerable sweating, the body’s primary way of eliminating toxins. Impurities and toxins are flushed out through the skin help to cleanse your body.

Reducing muscle tension and relieving pain
Submerging yourself in water relieves tension in limbs, supporting aching muscles and easing your movements. Combined with the cycle of heat, cold and rest, hydrotherapy stimulates the release of endorphins to act as a natural pain reliever.

Rehabilitating injured muscles
Raising the body temperature increases blood flow around the circulatory system. The improved circulation helps to heal injured tissues and rehabilitate damaged muscles or joints.

Relieving stress
By releasing endorphins, also known as the ‘well-being hormone’, and reducing blood pressure, your body will be better equipped to slow down its reaction to anxiety and fight stress.
