Here’s where you can find it

Want to know if your doctor is allowed to practise in Ontario? Want to find a pharmacist who speaks your language? Are you looking for a qualified dietitian or physiotherapist?

You can find this information online. Ontario’s health regulators are putting reliable information about regulated health professionals online in their public registers. There are over 300,000 Ontario health professionals listed in the college registers, including nurses, massage therapists, chiropractors, and many more.

Ontario health regulators use different names for their public registers. For example, you might see: Find a Professional, Doctor Search, Member Search, Registry or Member Profile.

How do the registers work?

Ontario health regulators are known as ‘regulatory colleges’. By law, every regulatory college must publish a profile of each of their members on their website. The standards for becoming and staying a member of a regulated health profession are very high in Ontario. When you search through a register by name, you can get answers to questions like these:

  • Is this provider a member in good standing?
  • When did they register to practice in Ontario?
  • Where do they provide services?
  • Have they had restrictions put on their practice because of professional misconduct?
