The Elora Festival Is Coming to Your Living Room!

Returning for the second (and, hopefully, final!) time as The Elora Festival Online, nine pre-recorded concerts will be streamed across Canada and around the world from August 5 – 28.

The Elora Festival, under the artistic direction of Mark Vuorinen, features 4 new concerts from The Elora Singers, our ensemble-in-residence.  On August 5, we feature cellist Katie Schlaikjer from the Penderecki String Quartet in a truly unique program of music for cello and choir.  We bring back a Festival favourite on August 14 with “The Elora Singers at Twilight” — reflective and enchanting music as the sun sets, recreating the ambiance of a candlelit a cappella concert.

We take a different approach on August 21 with “Cover Story”, where we perform arrangements of music by diverse artists, including Dolly Parton, The Beatles, and Björk.  Finally, we welcome back Canadian actor Colm Feore on August 28 for “Poetry & Song”, featuring a world premiere from Canadian composer Stephanie Martin.

The Elora Festival has a proud tradition of welcoming international artists to Elora, and this year is no exception.  The newly-formed Jason Max Ferdinand Singers from the US offer gospel-inspired music and African-American spirituals on August 7. Canadian baritone Russell Braun and pianist Carolyn Maule perform in recital, along with members of The Elora Singers, on August 12.

We continue our partnership with Festival of The Sound on August 14, presenting one of their programs, “Classic Vienna,” for our audience. On August 19, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir introduces us to the music of Veljo Tormis and songs about traditional Estonian holidays. Finally, the renowned VOCES8 of the UK presents “Choral Dances” on August 26.

Ticketholders will have a unique link for each concert and may watch the concerts anytime and several times if they wish!  The Elora Festival concerts will be available to view through September 6.

Tickets for the 2021 Elora Festival Online are on sale now through our website www.elorafestival.ca.

We look forward to presenting these concerts to you from the comfort of your home or cottage — sharing a beloved Elora tradition with audiences across Canada and around the world!
