What’s the key to a happy marriage as we age? According to a recent study, the essential ingredient is sex!

Researchers studied more than 200 married people 65 and older. Some said that they had no sex at all in the previous year — and of those, only 40 per cent were very happy with life in general. But for those who had sex more than once a month, the numbers jumped drastically. 60 per cent were happy with their lives and 80 per cent were happy with their marriages. It’s a good thing we’re not talking about a lot of sex. Because another unrelated survey for the pharmaceutical giant Elly Lily finds the sex lives of older Canadians are below average. It says Canadian Zoomers aged 46-60 are having sex 1.35 times per week, ranking ninth out of 13 countries and below the global average of 1.41 times per week. The number one barrier for most respondents? Tiredness and fatigue.
