Example has Star Wars theme at wedding

Example played the ‘Star Wars’ theme at his wedding.

The ‘We’ll Be Coming Back’ hitmaker – real name Elliot Gleave – wed Australian TV presenter Erin McNaught in an intimate ceremony Down Under on Saturday (18.05.13) and the 30-year-old star, who was in charge of the music, surprised his guests by breaking from tradition by picking a cinematic soundtrack for their big day.

As well as playing ‘The Imperial March’, the orchestral song associated with movie villain Darth Vader, Example also played the theme from ‘Jurassic Park’ and the xylophone music from ‘True Romance’ when the time came to walk down the aisle.

The rapper was overcome with emotion on his big day – which took place on a farm in front of a modest group of 70 guests – but his new bride, Erin, 30, managed to keep her composure.

He told The Sun newspaper: “I wasn’t nervous on the day until the moment I saw Erin walking down the aisle. For the most part I held it together, but as soon as I started reading my vows, I had to shed a few tears.”

As well as personally writing his own vows, the ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’ star also recited a special poem for his new bride at the reception – but unbeknownst to him, his father also prepared a poem about him.

He said: “My dad’s speech had everyone roaring with laughter. His entire speech was a poem about my life from baby to man. Then, when it came to my speech, I also had a poem. Neither of us knew we had poems prepared. It could almost have been called a father/son rap battle.”

Example and Erin met in 2011 when she interviewed him for Australia and became engaged in November 2012.
