DAY FIVE

Each evening, the tour staff, all archaeology graduates, holds briefings for the next day’s organized tours, and along with the daily lectures, passengers are well prepared and organized for the historic sites. This morning, we are tendered into Skiathos, the Greek island famous for its part in the Persian Wars and more recently for the partial filming of the movie Mamma Mia. We’re on our own to explore the island and walk up cobbled streets to the Church of Ayios Fanourios for a breathtaking view of the town and the sparkling sea. We arrive back on board in time for afternoon tea in the Terrace Café where we enjoy the sun reflecting off the rugged coast of Skiathos.
