This fall is the launch of the Zoomer Golf Travel Series, with an inaugural event in the exhilarating and entertaining city of Las Vegas. This five night, four-round golf tournament takes place in October at some of the finest golf courses in Nevada, set against a spectacular landscape of desert and mountains.
This limited field event is open to all skill levels of golfers and your golf host for the Vegas 2 Ball Classic will be Scott Kolb, a Canadian PGA member, who has been hosting Golf events in Las Vegas for more than 20 years.
Our fun-filled, packed itinerary includes a unique mix of options for non-golfing partners as well (see Companion Tour), who will want to take advantage of the other delightful diversions offered in and around Vegas.
You will be staying at the legendary Caesars Palace Hotel in the heart of the strip. On your arrival night there will be a meet-and-greet cocktail party to get to know the other golfers and couples and there will be an exclusive poolside event on the final night to celebrate your week of desert fun.
And best of all, ground transportation between the airport, hotel, golf courses and various venues is included.
The event’s format will have teams of two players in a fun Match Play setting. We will have Men’s Teams, Women’s Teams and Mixed Teams. We will have various brackets for your opponents (think March Madness in Basketball) but with six different divisions based on genders and skill level to
make sure everyone is having fun.
Monday’s Golf round is a qualifying round that places you in a bracket, with Tuesday and Wednesday being the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals. If you lose your opening Match Play event, you will go into a consolation bracket. All teams that win Wednesday will play in the Finals on Thursday and those
that lose on Wednesday will play in a fun net skins game on Thursday.
We will play off 90 per cent of our Golf Canada indexes and although there is a competitive element to the format, we will be stressing that this is a fun event first!
The Golf Courses
Bear’s Best – our event kicks off at a facility that is as Vegas as it comes. Much like the Vegas skyline with replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Venetian waterways and pyramids, this course has reproductions of golf holes of Jack Nicklaus’s favourite holes on the west coast of North America. In typical Nicklaus design, he has provided generous fairways with some undulating greens. The golf course is built on the south side of the beautiful residential Summerlin area with exceptional views of the entire valley.
Spanish Trail – Round one of the Match Play starts off at the private Spanish Trail Golf & CC, four miles off the Las Vegas Strip. Designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., it is beautiful mix of holes with many water features and solid par 4’s. The property, built in 1984, has a 27-hole championship course that has been the home to five PGA Tour Las Vegas Invitationals.
Reflection Bay Golf Club – Set on luxurious Lake Las Vegas, located 20 minutes east of the Las Vegas Strip. A 320-acre man-made lake, it is the centrepiece of this resort community. Built in 1998, Reflection Bay Golf Club is another course designed by 18-time major winner Jack Nicklaus. As a special feature of the Zoomer event, we have a special clinic coordinated with ex PGA Tour Players Craig Barlow and Jeff Gallagher. We will then have lunch before an afternoon shotgun start. This will also be the Semi Finals of the Match Play for all participants.
Paiute Golf Resort – Our final round will have our group at the challenging Pete Dye designed Paiute Golf Resort, located 25 minutes north of Las Vegas. We will be playing the Snow Course, which is one of the three courses at the resort. It is pure golf oasis with only the golf and the desert for miles. It will be a spectacular finish for our Match Play Finals and a fun final round for those that will finish their week with a Net Skins game.
The Companion Trip
For the non-golfing spouses or companions on the trip, we have a special itinerary planned with outdoors and wellness activities. You can start your day with the golf group with a meal at the golf courses before taking off to enjoy you own program.
Day 1 – See and feel the stunning Red Rock National Park: E-bike through the beautiful Red Rock Canyon. We will allow three hours to tour the 17-mile loop through the National Park to allow plenty of time for tours through the various stunning views and stopping points.
Day 2 – Pink Jeep Tour to the Eldorado Gold Mines: On this four-hour excursion into the desert, gear up to be immersed in a true wild west experience at one of Nevada’s richest gold mines. You’ll learn from a local expert about gold mining in southern Nevada, which operated from 1861 until 1942.
Day 3 – Bring your bathing suits. While the golfers play on the shores of Lake Las Vegas, you will be in the lake with choice of paddle board or kayak and finish off the day on a private boat to tour around the 320 acre lake.
Day 4 – It’s a “Me” day: We travel to Red Rock Casino and downtown Summerlin for a day of massage, pool and shopping. Enjoy a 50-minute massage at the Red Rock Spa followed by the option to spend time in the resort’s beautiful pool area or cross the street to enjoy one of the nicest
shopping experiences in Las Vegas with an outdoor shopping experience of Downtown Summerlin.
